How it works
Discount formulas explained.
Single discount
$120 at 25% off = $120 × 0.75 = $90
Multiply the original by 1 minus the discount as a decimal.
Stacked discounts
$200 at 20% then 10% $200 → $160 → $144
Apply each discount sequentially. Note: 20% + 10% ≠ 30% — stacked discounts compound.
Reverse lookup
Sale $90, was 25% off $90 ÷ 0.75 = $120
Divide the sale price by (1 minus the discount decimal) to find the original.
