Overview

calpercentage.com is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used, and what rights you have in relation to your data. We have written this policy in plain language so that anyone — not just lawyers — can understand exactly how we handle information.

The short version: we do not collect personal data, we do not sell your information to anyone, and all percentage calculations run entirely in your browser. Your numbers never reach our servers.

calpercentage.com is a free utility website providing online percentage calculators. The nature of the site — a browser-based calculation tool with no user accounts, no purchases, and no user-generated content — means we have very little reason to collect personal information in the first place. Our approach to privacy is built on data minimization: we only receive information that is technically unavoidable when you visit any website, and we use it only to keep the site running correctly.

Information we do not collect

To be explicit about our data minimization approach, here is a list of information we do not collect from visitors:

  • No personal identifiers — no names, email addresses, usernames, or account information. There are no user accounts on this site.
  • No calculation data — every number you enter into any calculator runs entirely in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers. We cannot see what you calculated.
  • No payment information — the site is completely free with no purchases, subscriptions, or payment flows of any kind.
  • No precise location data — we do not use GPS, Wi-Fi triangulation, or any other method to determine your specific physical location.
  • No behavioral profiling — we do not build profiles of individual users, track you across other websites, or participate in behavioral advertising networks.
  • No biometric data — we do not collect fingerprints, facial recognition data, voice prints, or any other biometric identifiers.
  • No sensitive personal data — we do not collect racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health data, or financial account details.

Information we may collect automatically

Like virtually all websites, our hosting infrastructure automatically receives certain technical information when your browser connects to our servers. This is a standard feature of how the internet works, not a deliberate data collection practice on our part.

This technical information may include:

  • IP address — used to route traffic to your browser. This may be logged in anonymized or aggregated form by our hosting provider.
  • Browser type and version — used to understand how to serve the site correctly to different browsers and rendering engines.
  • Operating system — used in aggregate to inform compatibility and testing decisions.
  • Pages visited and time spent — used in aggregate to understand which calculators are most useful to visitors.
  • Referring URL — the web page you visited immediately before calpercentage.com, if applicable.
  • Date and time of visit — used to analyze overall traffic patterns and uptime.
  • Country or region — derived from IP in anonymized, aggregate form to understand where our visitors are located.

This data is processed only in anonymized or aggregated form to help us understand site traffic and diagnose technical issues. It is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Individual records are not used to identify, contact, or profile any specific visitor.

Cookies and local storage

We take a minimal approach to browser storage. Here is exactly what we store and why:

  • Theme preference (localStorage) — We store a single value called theme in your browser's localStorage to remember whether you prefer dark or light mode across visits. This value is stored only on your device, never sent to our servers, and is not accessible by any third party.

We do not use analytics session cookies, persistent tracking cookies, tracking pixels, browser fingerprinting, or any other cross-site tracking technologies. If you clear your browser's local storage, your theme preference will simply reset to the default light mode — no other data is affected.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymized, aggregated data about how visitors use the site. This helps us understand how many people use the site, which calculators are most popular, what devices and browsers are most common, and where traffic originates.

Google Analytics processes data under Google's own Privacy Policy. We have configured our Google Analytics implementation to:

  • Not collect personally identifiable information.
  • Restrict data processing to aggregate usage insights only, used solely for site improvement.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available free from Google.

How we use information

The limited, anonymized information we have access to is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with the site's performance or availability.
  • Understanding in aggregate which calculators and features are most valuable to visitors.
  • Monitoring overall site health, uptime, and traffic levels.
  • Making informed product decisions about which new tools to build or existing tools to improve.

Data retention

Because calpercentage.com does not collect personal data, there is no personal data to retain, manage, or delete on request.

Aggregated, anonymized analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for up to 14 months by default, after which it is automatically purged. Server log data retained by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) is handled according to their own data retention policies. The single item stored on your device — your theme preference in localStorage — persists until you clear your browser storage or reset it yourself.

Security

calpercentage.com is served exclusively over HTTPS, which encrypts all data in transit between your browser and our servers. Since all calculations run locally in your browser and no personal data is stored on our servers, the risk surface for a data breach is minimal by design.

We keep site dependencies and hosting infrastructure updated to address known security vulnerabilities promptly. Our hosting partner (Cloudflare) maintains enterprise-grade infrastructure security on our behalf. If you discover a security issue with the site, please report it via our contact page and we will investigate immediately.

Children's privacy

calpercentage.com is a free, publicly available utility website with no user registration, no user-generated content, and no collection of personal information. The site is appropriate for use by people of all ages, including school-age students. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in jurisdictions where that threshold applies under GDPR). If you believe a child has somehow submitted personal information to us via our contact form, please notify us immediately and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the site evolves or as legal and regulatory requirements change. Any material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of the document. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect your privacy. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
